Abstract
The writers begin with their general view and theory of evaluation. The scale of evaluation is perhaps the most important element in the whole setting of evaluation. When the object of evaluation is a person, an institution, a big project or the like no-simple object, what kind of scales should we employ?
The nominal scale which has been least frequently considered in the science and engineering of measurement, should be given a more prominent place in the evaluation of no-simple, abstract entities. Some new methods of evaluation in engineering courses are practical examples of the writers' measurement-theoretic approach for the choice of an appropriate scale in evaluating students.
