It has been argued that Japan lost its industrial competence during the 90's. At the dawn of the New Century, we have still been unable to escape this long stifling situation. Because of the lack of natural resources, the only way for Japan's restoration is a revitalization of the manufacturing industry, as defined by the culture of "co-relationship" The source of competitive advantage is nothing but human talent. To create an industry capable of overcoming global competition, we need an education revolution that aims at "diversity", though so far Japanese educational system has pursued uniformity. Shortsighted policy for economic growth is not enough for true recovery. From a long-term point of view that spans several decades, it is clear that we must invest in an educational revolution for the future.
