Abstract
Engineering education in Japan is now requested to make progress along with social changes such as great advancements in high technology, information technology and globalization. Due to the declining population and low birthrate it is important for newcomers to have a diverse learning history and enthusiasm for technology. Under this situation, it is essential for universities to collaborate with high school, asking for the improvement of the education. After much discussion Hachinohe Institute of Technology has established two cooperative programs with various high schools. The aims are (1) that mutual teachers have strong interests about each other's education and understand the actual circumstances, (2) and that university teachers get knowledge about the newcomers as soon as possible and use the knowledge appropriately. (3) Finally we aim to give the high school students stronger incentive to go on to universities. In the present paper, we present the details of the high school-college cooperative education program such as internship activity, pre-enrollment lectures and some problems clarified in the process of the practice.
