The basic concepts of infection control have already been established, and compliance is a major issue in infection control practice. Therefore, attention tends to focus on activities such as increasing compliance. However, there are many research topics and room for conducting various studies. Through such research, novel infection control methods and concepts may be developed, and new devices may prove effective. Through scientific research, they can be evaluated for effectiveness and established as standard infection control practices. In this manuscript, papers were selected on the basis of the possibility of affecting infection control practices and publication years of either 2022 or 2023. Articles on the association between the cleanliness of healthcare environments and the spread of drug-resistant bacteria, trends in health care-associated infections during the coronavirus diseases 2019 pandemic, and appropriate use of antimicrobial agents were described.
