Abstract
We analyzed the operative and oncologic outcomes following laparoscopic radical prostatectomy(LRP)in Tenri hospital. We collected data on 647 patients who were treated with LRP by eight surgeons between January 2007 and December 2013. The median operative time was 174 minutes and median blood loss was 50 mL. Although anastomotic leak and stricture occurred frequently, these complications were reduced in the final two years due to the improvement of the surgical procedure. The overall positive surgical margin rate was 25.9%(pT2:19.3%, pT3a:41.6%, pT3b-4:60.8%). The overall 3- and 5-yr PSA-failure-free survival rates were 81.0 and 78.5%, respectively. Continence rates(0-1 pad per 24 hr)at 3, 6, and 12 months after the operation were 63.9, 83.7, and 89.9%, respectively. Our results are mostly consistent with those of large contemporary series.
