Abstract

As part of work style reform, task shifting/sharing has been promoted, and work improvements are being required even in busy emergency outpatient departments. As the number of emergency transports is on the rise, the response to emergency transports needs to be strengthened to provide appropriate emergency medical care in the region. As one such measure, paramedical staff were assigned to the emergency outpatient department. Volunteers were recruited from each paramedical department and asked to work in the emergency outpatient department for half a day on a working day when manpower was sufficient. With the cooperation of the emergency outpatient nurses, education has been provided, and by sharing tasks that could be done regardless of occupation and utilizing the expertise of specialists, the number of ambulances accepted has tended to increase. Participating in initial medical care enables smoother subsequent interventions, reduces the burden on the field through multidisciplinary collaboration, and fosters a sense of fulfillment in being able to work in a busy field, which acts as a motivating factor. Therefore, task shifting/sharing with paramedical staff makes it possible to provide smooth emergency medical care.
