Abstract

We report two cases of loss of consciousness caused by organic solvent intoxication, in which the patients were transported after being extensively contaminated with epoxy resin. Neither dry nor wet decontamination performed by the fire department was effective, and the use of paint removers such as thinner or acetone was avoided due to the potential risk of secondary injury. In both cases, after the resin dried over time, it could be manually peeled off without causing any skin damage. One patient exhibited mild corneal injury and olfactory disturbance, both of which resolved completely without sequelae. A common finding in these two cases was that dried epoxy resin could be manually removed, providing clinically valuable insight.
