The method of the electric discharge cutting by using an electrolytic working fluid is the most effective means for the cutting of the special metal. And recently, this method has become to be applied widely. But there are many unkown phenomena on this cutting mechanism.
So, in order to make clear this working mechanism, the condition of the production of electric discharge, the duration time of electric discharge, the product ion and expansion of gaseous vapor, the trajectory of debris and etc. are observed by making use of high-speed camera and are investigated.
It is clear from the above observation and discussion that the working mechanism is mainly caused by the contact and dissociation between an electrode and a work, and the use of working fluid shows a more effective in the practical discharge cutting process.
