In order to guarantee high accuracy in wire EDM, it is important to keep fluid in the constant conditions, such as temperature and fluid specific resistance. Because a wire EDM machine is automatically driven for a very long time, especially the accuracy of machined work can't be proof.
Then, this paper describes the influence of fluid on performance in wire EDM. First of all each thermal source getting up fluid temperature in wire EDM is discussed. So a thermal control system of fluid is developed in this research. And also several experiments are taken place with the value of specific resistance changing.
As a result of the experiments, it is noted that temperature and specific resistance of fluidshould be adaptively controlled to catch the high machining accuracy and good surface roughness. And it is found as follows. Selecting the optimum value of temperature, the average discharge current increases. Therefore the maxmum removal rate can be obtained.
