The mechanism of electric discharge machining has been recognized that a thermal action and a dynamics action that accompanies it are mainly attributable to the phenomenon of electric discharge machining, but then has been no full explanation about the relation between the discharge energy and the removal energy.
In this report, the calculation of the melting removal efficiency and vapourizing removal efficiency has been made on the assumption that the single discharge removal is caused only by the melting or vapourizing in condenser discharge. and the single discharge crater shape, crater upheavals and remaining zone of molten metal on the crater has been measured in relation to the results of such calculations
From these findings it can be inferred that the removal quantity which is blow off after melting is more large quantity than the vapourizing one.
