Abstract

In Japan, robot-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (RAPN) is already covered by insurance for renal cancer and is recognized as the standard procedure for small renal tumors. The difficulty of partial nephrectomy is influenced by tumor localization, diameter, and morphology, as well as the structure of the renal portal vasculature. In order to ensure smooth surgery, it is necessary to conduct preoperative simulations of surgical operations for each case, taking into account the various anatomical characteristics of each case, and to actively introduce navigation systems that support surgery while recognizing various information in real time during the operation. The importance of navigation systems is expected to increase in the future as more and more difficult cases are expected to be treated with these systems. In this paper, we will review the intraoperative navigation using Tile Pro in RAPN, which has been used in the past, with a focus on 3D real time navigation using atrena, which was newly introduced at our hospital, and discuss the future prospects.
