experience in implementing and operating hinotori^TM ～from the da Vinci Inexperienced Team

Abstract

  Most robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) for prostate cancer has been performed with the da Vinci Surgical system (da Vinci). In August 2020, the hinotori^TM Surgical Robot System (hinotori), a domestically produced surgical robot, was approved for production and marketing, making it the device of choice for robot-assisted surgery as well. Nagoya Central Hospital introduced hinotori, the first domestically produced surgical robot, in March 2022, while several large hospitals in the neighborhood introduced da Vinci. The background to the introduction and the changes in the number of patients due to the introduction of hinotori are described, along with the advantages of hinotori.
