Abstract

The estimation of energy yield of PV modules is needed to operate a power system stably. However, overestimation always occurs when using conventional Isotropic model to estimate the rear side irradiance of Bifacial PV due to the neglection of shadow that reduces the ground reflection irradiance. In this paper, the estimation value that does consider irradiance reduction by the shadow was calculated using Angle Factor Model and View Factor Model, then validated by 4 sets of experiments comparing the estimated value with actual value. To further reduce the error, Sky View Factor was considered during calculating the estimation value. Consideration of the shadow and Sky View factor reduced the average error of estimated value up to 87%.
