Abstract

Photovoltaic power generation system is attracting attention as a potential solution to serious energy problems. In particular, bifacial photovoltaic (BiPV) system is expected to improve power generation efficientry because power can also be generated on the backside of the module. Many studies have evaluated the productivity and economic efficiency of BiPV systems, but few have evaluated their environmental performance. In this report, the environmental compatibility of BiPV and mono photovoltaic (MPV) system were evaluated when installed in Fukui City. BiPV systems are more environmentally friendly than MPV systems at any tilt angle, with the most environmentally friendly installation configuration being the BiPV system at tilt angle of 20 to 30 degrees.
