The development of highly active catalysts is necessary to produce hydrogen carriers by electrolytic nitrogen reduction reaction at low temperature and under atmospheric pressure. In this study, Cu/Ru/Ketjenblack-TiO2/Carbon paper catalysts were investigated to improve the selectivity. The catalysts were prepared by electrodeposition of Cu and Ru on Ketjenblack. The electrochemical nitrogen reduction ability of the catalysts was measured using a fuel cell type electrolysis cell. The results showed an ammonia production of 1.83 nmol h-1 cm-2 and a Faraday efficiency of 0.068% after 2 h electrolysis at -0.6 V vs. RHE.
