Abstract

The objective of this work is to investigate the applicability of biomimicry in buildings. Biomimicry is a method of engineering based on the imitation of the form of natural objects. This paper presents a review of examples of biomimicry architecture and the results of the analysis. Furthermore, to evaluate the performance of biomimicry architecture, numerical simulations are conducted on the thermal environment of a single room model with the Self-Shading Wall, which mimics the shape of a cactus, and the calculation results are discussed.
