Solar power generation on building surfaces gathers much attention since not only is it less likely to load the power system, but it can also contribute to improving energy resilience. However, evaluation methods for photovoltaic (PV) systems on building surfaces on a city scale have not been well-established, especially in that the effect of detailed thermal interaction between PV panels and their surroundings on panel temperature is rarely considered in the literature. In this research, we developed a novel model that can resolve the issue by using a composite model consisting of an urban canopy model and a building energy model (CM-BEM), applied it to Tokyo’s 23 wards, and analyzed the simulated results.
