Using a small small-scale experimental microgrid constructed on the university campus, consisting of a solar power generation system, a battery energy storage system, and a diesel generator (biodiesel), a simulated load was operated simulating a rural village in Tanzania, and the power losses that occurred were experimentally understood. It was found that the accuracy of the simulation could be improved by setting the converter efficiency to a value 5 % lower than the rated value and adding about 15% to the total load input to simulate wiring losses. As a result, the net present cost increased by about 15 %.
