This report aims to clarify the regional characteristics influencing residential PV installation in Japan at the municipal level. Previous research has often focused on specific areas, but this study conducts a cross-sectional data analysis targeting small cities and towns with populations under 100,000. As a result, the number of workers by industry, the percentage of elderly, owneroccupied homes, and the percentage of the population living in areas with high disaster risk were identified as factors that contribute to the introduction of PV. Analyzing data at the municipal scale can incorporate factors such as the natural environment, housing types, and economic factors to provide a comprehensive understanding of solar energy adoption.
