Abstract

In order to curb global warming in Japan, efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, known as “local decarbonization,” are being promoted in local communities. However, there is a problem that renewable electricity is separated into electricity value and non-fossil value when it is connected to the power grid. So, non-fossil value, which is important to curb global warming, is drained out of renewable electricity generation areas. This problem is an adverse effect of the Feed-In Tariff/Premium (FIT/FIP) system, and what should be done to avoid resource nationalism will be discussed.
