Abstract
The design of hipped roof is often required in house making. The decision of its shape is, however, not so easy.
This paper describes a CAD system whitch enables automatic design of the hipped roof. It makes use of an algorithm for solving a partitioning polygonal regions problem in two dimensional space, where intersecting lines between two adjacent planesin three dimensional space correspond to the hip lines.
The merits are as follows ;
1) CPU time and date consuming are saved.
2) The most suitable answer is decided mathematically as well as practically.
3) The algorithm in the process will be applicable to another problems such as a route decision for circuit design, and so on.
