Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to clarify the process of the formation of thought of the physical education for girls through the Meiji era, by the contents analysis of “JOGAKU ZASSI”. At early stage, the physical education for girls was considered as unnecessary. However, it became gradually strong in a thought to be a national duty. And, traditional martial arts became to the mainstream, and “mind” came to be emphasized.
