Abstract

This article examines the history of Japanese magazine Myojo, published by Shueisha. The history of Myojo is divided into three main periods: popular magazine (about 1950s–60s), idol magazine (70s–80s), and Johnny’s magazine (90s–). Particularly, this study focuses on the establishment and the dismantling of Mass Society through Myojo.
