Abstract
Utilizing capacity of an irrigation pond to regulate heavy inflow from the basin is one of considerable measures for comprehensive flood control. In this paper, the capacity to regulate inflow was defined as an excess of capacity given by subtracting required storage for irrigation from total capacity of an irrigation pond. The required storage for irrigation was calculated with historical data including estimated actual water use based on the method of Operational Curve of Required Storage for Drought (RSDC) that was developed to provide an operational rule of irrigation reservoirs. Effectiveness on regulation of inflow from the basin with the given capacity of flood control shown above was illustrated by a computer simulation.
