Owing to topographical or other designing conditions, the water depth and the bottom slope of side channel spillway sometimes are previously given and sometimes can freely be chosen. In such particular cases the economic design of side channel spillway must be modified, leading to the so-called absolute economic design. The absolute economic design of side channel spillway with a constant water surface slope is analytically discussed here.
