Abstract
The objective of this study is to conduct research on information gathering and data analysis theory and methods to enable local governments as well as tourism associations, chambers of commerce, and the operators of hotels and other lodging facilities, to implement rational tourism policies, tourism vitalization, and business management based on data. In this study we estimated the occupancy rates of lodging facilities on a daily basis using hotel guestroom vacancy data and tourist information gathered from some websites and analyzed factors that contribute to lodging facility popularity. We chose as the analysis target the hotels in Kyoto City. Through the results of empirical analysis, we obtained new insights concerning the guestroom occupancy rates at hotels in Kyoto City and factors that contribute to hotel popularity.
