Issues for the Construction of "Regional Archives Studies"

Abstract

　The author has begun collecting regional "memories" such as regional landscapes, townscapes, and the thoughts of the people who live and work in Yamagata and archiving them in Yamagata University Museum. This paper introduces the activities of the "Yamagata Archive" that the author is creating and points out the problems and issues that have emerged from these activities, as a first step toward the construction of "Regional Archives Studies" regarding the collection, organization, preservation, and provision of regional archives.
