This study aims to conduce to new possibilities of knowledge management theory and practice in 'negotiation of meanings'. Current knowledge management theories by the use of 'communities of practice' continue to comply with cognitivism on knowledge. This study complies with relationalism on knowledge and discusses a conceptual framework on knowledge transfer reference to 'negotiation of meanings'with 'participation' and 'reification' and a phenomenological approach. Subsequently, through exploring various participations enabled by the reified 'knowledge' and its analogies in an empirical study of a 'knowledge transfer project' in a pharmaceutical firm, this study clarifies new possibilities of management.
