Since 2000, we have performed anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using hamstring tendons fixed with the TransFix system. The TransFix system is composed of femoral cross-pin fixation, tibial soft interference screw fixation and tibial postscrew fixation. In this study we present short-term clinical results of our ACL reconstruction, and some discussion. The patients were 20 males and 14 females (mean age 29.9 years old), and the mean follow-up period was 13.3 months. At final follow-up, the average R.O.M. was 0°/153°. The mean strength of knee extension was 78% by side-to-side ratio. Side to side difference of KT1000 manual max was 1.0 ± 1.3mm on average. Lachman test (-) 85% (±) 9% (+) 6%; anterior drawer test (-) 88% (±) 3% (+) 9%; pivot shift test (-) 85% (±) 12% (+) 3%; mean Lysholm score was 97. We had 2 reruptures of reconstructed ACL. These were only short-term results, and we found there were some problems to improve, but we are almost satisfied with them.
