Abstract
Organization of Japanese Society is now transforming from closed sectionalism into open system ordered through transparent rule of law. Japanese lawyer's identity is also simultaneously changing. They are expected to play wider roles outside of courts and to be more specialized. Legal education has to be reorganized to produce such lawyers. Japanese legal education has almost exclusively concentrated on teaching legal knowledge from judge's point of view. However, in order to produce lawyers who satisfy current legal need, Japanese Law Schools should introduce curriculum that focuses on more practical subjects.
