Abstract
In the past, when it came to incontinence care in hospitals and nursing care facilities, diapers were changed frequently, such as every two hours, day and night, with the idea that "frequent diaper changes are good care." In recent years, the number of diaper changes has been reduced, especially at night, in order to improve the quality of life of users and to address the shortage of care workers. This review survey surveyed hospital/nursing facility staff's awareness of "continence care and sleep," outlined the current state of diaper changing in hospitals/nursing facilities, and the evolution of adult disposable diaper specifications. We will also introduce examples of reducing nighttime diaper changes. In order to improve the QOL of users, it is necessary to reduce the risk of disrupting sleep due to changing diapers at night.
