Abstract
Endovenous laser system (ELVeS 980 nm diode laser system) for primary varicose vein with the Japanese clinical trial was approved by the Japanese health and welfare ministry on January, 2011. It took approximately 6 years to get an approval of reimbursement for the technical and devise fee from the preparation of applying to the authority. This clinical trial was set up a multicenter comparative study between endovenous laser ablation and stripping which is commonly performed. This study showed that endovenous laser ablation is as safe and effective as stripping with less duration of hospital admission. The education, analysis and distribution of information about endovenous ablation for varicose vein from the side of medical associations are important after this approval.
