Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of 1320 nm Micro-Pulsed Nd:YAG laser (Micro PW) for endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) in 188 patients (200 legs) with incompetent great or accessory saphenous veins. In the efficacy evaluation in 120 legs for 12 months, ablated vein occlusion rate was 99.7% and their shrinkage rate was 23.7%. In the safety evaluation, no significant pain and bruising with analgesic free rate of 97% and minimal endovenous heat-induced thrombus (EHIT) was observed. In conclusion, the Micro PW EVLA is effective and safe without overheating blood and perforating vein walls.
