Abstract
The usefulness of the newly developed multichannel low-power laser has been reported on several times. In this study, the author examined the effect of such laser treatment via the following technique: four channels were set on meridians and extraordinary meridian points (standard to acupuncture theory), and the foot reflexology treatment reflex zone introduced by the author. Pencil form probes were set on auricular points.
Subjects were outpatients suffering mainly from gastric pain, lumbago, dysmenorrhea and the like. The author divided them into three treatment groups and observed them:
(1) Plaster form probe and pencil form probe
(2) Suction form probe (10m) and pencil form probe
(3) Suction form probe (30m) and pencil form probe Recovery of patients whose symptoms completely disappeared was regarded as excellent, those with some improvement as good, and those with no change in symptoms poor. Standard radiation time was 20 minutes: 10 minutes in the prone position and 10 minutes in the supine position.
In most cases, effect could be noted within fifth treatment times. Among the 140 patients, excellent recovery was 76.45% and good recover 86.4%.
In conclusion, the application of acupuncture therapy (in which 4 channels are set on either meridian points, extraordinary meridian points, or the foot reflexology treatment reflex zone and pencil form probes are set on auricular points) to low power multichannel semiconductor laser therapy proved effective.
