Abstract
The author outlined two newly developed methods of laser therapy for glaucoma, namely, selective laser trabeculoplasty and endoscopic cycloablation. Selective laser trabeculoplasty functions based on 'selective targeting of trabecular meshwork cells' and reduces outflow resistance of the trabecular meshwork. Preliminary results are encouraging with good pressure control and less frequent complications. Endoscopic cycloablation enables us to quantitatively treat ciliary processes under a direct view. This technique is suitable for an adjunctive measure to surgery combined with vitrectomy or cataract extraction. These two therapeutic modalities are expected to add a new choice to the present glaucoma therapy.
