Abstract
This paper presents a newly developed optical fiber waveguide system for CO2 laser and its clinical assessment. The system is composed of two parts: fiber and its controller parts. The fiber part(10.8mm∅) consists of a fiber core(poly-crystalline of AgCl, 1.5mm∅) of 800mm in length, a cooling tube, thermistors, supporting wires, and covering sheets. This fiber system holds transmissivity of 20W maximum output and flexibility of 20cm minimum bending radius. In clinical application, the fiber unit is available for tumor vaporization, and it is strongly expected for endoscopical use.
