Abstract
Synersistic effect of laser irradiation and fluoride application on acid resistance of dental enamel was investigated. Sound human enamel specimens were soaked into an acidurated phosphate fluoride solution (APF) for 24 hours after irradiation of normal pulse Nd-YAG laser with an energy density 50J/cm2. The enamel was obtained a remarkable resistance against acid decalcification compared with specimens of fluoride application alone and laser irradiation alone. The acquired zone of acid resistant of enamel reached from the enamel surface to 100μm in depth.
