Abstract
A virtual reality box is a device that realizes the movement of the hand on one side as both sides with a mirror inclined in the box. This virtual reality box was first used for phantom pain in amputees, but recently it is called mirror therapy and is used for the rehabilitation of hemiparesis. I reported the biceps after intercostal nerve cross suture or forearm muscles after nerve recovery in patients with brachial plexus injuries. Contraction was easily observed with the virtual reality box. In this study dipoles during motion were analyzed with the dipole tracing method in six patients. When the patient used the box, dipoles were observed on both sides of the primary motor cortex. This observation seems to explain that the symmetrical motor cortex stimulates the affected nerves and muscles.
