Abstract
Hypotension, one of the complications in general anesthesia with nitrous oxide, Oxygen and Methoxyflurane supplemented with spinal analgesia, was protected by injecting Effortil intramuscularly prior to spinal analgesia. Effect of effortil on arterial blood pressure appeared in 5 to 10 minutes after intramuscular administration, reached to the maximum in 15 minutes and lasted for 45 minutes. However, it was less effective in elderly patients over 60 years of age and in patients with hypertension, cardiac disorder, anemia, hepatic dysfunction or hypoproteinemia. No side effect of Ef f ortil was noted. Inhalated Methoxyflurane seemed to have a cause for hypotention in general anesthesia supplemented with spinal analgesia.
