Abstract
Fourty-eight cases of leukemia admitted in the Second Department of Internal Medicine, Showa University Hospital for the past 10 years were reviewed clinically.
Seventy per cent of them were acute leukemia.
Main initial symptoms or main complaints were geteralized fatigue, fever and bleeding tendency without regards to the types of leukemia, while characteristic symptoms in chronic myelocytic leukemia were abdominal tumor and feeling of distension.
Fifty per cent mortality of acute leukemia for the past 5 years was 5.5 months.
Serum ceruloplasmin value was high in cases of acute leukemia whose survival time was prolonged. Serum ceruloplasmin value decreased in the last stage of the acute leukemia.
