Antidotal effects of α-mercaptopropionyl glicine (MG) and 6, 8-dithioctanic acid (lipoic acid; LA) on mercuric chloride-intoxicated mice and histological examination were investigated. Results are as follows.
After administration of mercuric chrolide in the mice were observed for 7 days. The LD50was caluculated by the method of Litchfield-Wilcoxon. The LD50in the mice was 7.7 mg/kg intravenously. Acute toxic symptoms were observed in mice, depressed of spontaneous movements, piloerection, mydriasis, salivation, tremor convulsion, no righting reflex, depressed respiration. Histological findings of kindney in the mercuric chloride treated mice were noticed degeneration of hyaline droplet, hyperemia of cortex and medulla, dystropic calcification in proximal convoluted tubule and Henle's loop.
Antidotal effects of MG and LA on mercuic chloride intoxicated at doses of LD50were noticed decrease of mortality when administrated of combination with mercuric chloride and MG or LA.
