Abstract
Morphometry of the anterior cruciate ligament of 19 embalmed cadaveric knees was carried out. Insertions of the femoral side and the tibial side were investigated. An area on the photograph was measured using the ZEISS Company IBAS (Interaktives Bild-Analysen System) . The maximum width of the intercondylar notch was measured using slide calipers. The angle of torsion of the Anterior cruciate ligament was examined by investigating the fiber of the Anterior cruciate ligament from the insertion of the femoral side to the tibial side. Both the shape of insertion of the femoral side and the tibial side varied with each example. A fixed tendency was not recognized in the ratio with the width and the sagittal length of the midsubstance section and the insertion. The ratios of the sagittal length of the anterior cruciate ligament and the width varied. When the area on the femoral side became wide, the area on the tibial side became wide again, and the area of the ACL midsubstance became wide when the area of the femoral side insertion became wide as well. The angle of trusion of the anterior cruciate ligament was measured in the location to extend the geniculum completely the average was 84.5°.
