Continuous monitoring of blood pressure variation is necessary to detect the masked hypertension that is the sudden blood pressure variation under the specific time zone and environment. The previous studies proposed the method for estimating blood pressure low-invasively and continuously by using a photoplethysmograph. Although many studies on estimation of rapid blood pressure variation caused by the tasks like exercise and arithmetic have been conducted, we also need to estimate long-term blood pressure variation caused by biological rhythm. Therefore, we inspected the individual difference in the estimation accuracy from photoplethysmograph for blood pressure variability caused by biological rhythm. In the experiment, blood pressure variability and photoplethysmograph of five subjects for five days were measured. Then the multiple regression analysis was used to estimate blood pressure variability. As a result, estimation error derived by cross validation using inter-individual data was large, while estimation using intra-individual data showed higher accuracy for each subject. This result suggests that it is important to consider the individual difference of biological rhythm.
