Abstract
Volume rendering of 3D medical images such as CT is used to learn the human anatomy or assist diagnosis and therapy. It is not easy, however, to understand the organ structures such as the bronchial structure from volume rendered images. A method of displaying bronchial names automatically on volume rendered images has been developed. However, the method has a problem that bronchial names are sometimes overlapped each other so that their readability is insufficient. Thus, we propose an automated method to display bronchial names on the bronchial wall. We determine the locations where bronchial names are displayed from the tree structural data. As a result of the experiment, we confirmed that the readability of bronchial names improved.
