Abstract
Measurement of breathing and heartbeat is generally carried out in a state of attaching the sensor to the body. For example, measurement hardware is attached to the upper lip or the chest of subject in the breathing measurement. In the health care, a technique to measure breathing and heartbeat by noninvasive and noncontact is strongly required. A diagnosis of sleep apnea syndrome and prevention of the lonely death by elderly person becomes possible by measuring breathing and heartbeat in real time. Therefore I measured breathing and heartbeat by a noninvasive and noncontact using the motion capture technology. However, the usual motion capture device is very expensive, and it is necessary to attach the mark to the body for a capturing. In this study, I developed the measurement system using Kinect that motion capture was possible easily and cheaply. Breathing and heartbeat were measured by Kinect using distance information and infrared brightness information. The measurement position was able to follow a subjective movement using skeleton information of Kinect. The developed system could measure breathing and heartbeat by noncontact.
