Abnormal respiratory conditions of elderly patients were detected by monitoring fluctuations on the respiratory rhythm, using the multi-point pressure sensing sheet Sleep Eye GD700. This sheet can record respiratory and motion signals independently by processing information from 99 embedded sensors. The condition was estimated from the respiratory spectrogram and the motion waveform, calculated from a continuous recording of the respiratory signal and body movement. The results show that the continuous monitoring of respiratory rhythm with the used sensor is an effective method for detecting abnormal respiratory conditions on elderly people, especially for long-term bedridden patients.
