Abstract
Recently, neurofeedback has been the focus of many researchers to treat attention-deficit / hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) children. It becomes problem that head movement artifact because ADHD children cannot bear non-movement. To solve this problem, we propose the removal method of head movement artifact for EEG considering the online processing. First, head movement are recorded by a hybrid accelerometer. Next, artifact is detected using EEG amplitude. If artifact is detected, EEG decompose into independent components (ICs) by independent component analysis. Then, ICs that had the highest correlation with one or more hybrid accelerometer values are high-pass filtered. Last, EEG are reconstructed using all ICs. In this experiment, subjects were given simultaneously oddball task by visual stimulus and head movement task. In this task, EEG which had artifact and P300 component were measured to evaluate the proposed method. As a result, EEG amplitude were reduced compared to raw EEG. In addition, P300 waveform of cleaned EEG were more similar to resting EEG than raw EEG. This result indicates that head movement artifact is reduced by the proposed method while keeping EEG information.
