Abstract
Fibrous porous silica has been successfully synthesized using collagen fibril as a structure-directing agent obtained by milling leather wastes. It was cleared that these porous silica synthesized had large specific surface area over 600 m2 / g, and possessed micro and / or meso pores. It was also found that the pH value of the synthesis mixture was mainly affected the porous structure of silica. When the pH value was adjusted at 0.5, micro pore was only existed, while both micro and meso pore was existed in case of the pH value of 3.0. From the results of SEM observation, meso pores observed at the porous silica synthesized at the pH value of 3.0 was attributed to the gap of the silica particles.
