Abstract
In order to elucidate the role played by the sorting facilities of mixed construction and demolition waste for resource recovery, distributions of materials were investigated at real facility in operation by conducting batch experiments. And characteristics of outputs were also analyzed to explore the remaining issues for further improvement of facility performance. As the result of batch experiment, distribution ratio of 43% for recycled aggregate was highest and that of 23% for alternative fuel followed. The amount of waste separated for final disposal was 21% of the total input. By the analysis of each output, the characteristics of aggregate and alternative fuels were suitable for their destination. As consequences, the sorting facility observed was found to be extracting recyclables of almost 75% from mixed C&D waste.
