Abstract
First, the authous conducted trap-door test for the bentonite mixed soil layers with a thickness of 10cm and 20cm to observe cracking induced in the layer. They also conducted infiltlation tests just befor and after the trap-door test to consider the effect of cracking on the barrier performance. As a result, it is found that the bentonite mixed soil layer having a cracking within a half of the thickness may sustain its barrier function.
